Be a part of our Sixteenth Annual Program of one-day fly fishing instruction.
2010 Intermediate Schools! If you are a new fly fisher who wants to handle more advanced fly angling situations, then consider one of our Intermediate Schools. Both Intermediate Schools have been developed to provide the avid fly angler with techniques that can be used anywhere--on all trout waters in the world.
INTRODUCTORY FLY FISHING SCHOOL: EIGHT-HOUR SCHOOL: 9AM - 5 PM
By day's end you'll know how to assemble your rod & reel, rig a leader and select a fly. You'll know where to find fish and how to cast to them. You'll also know how to fight, land and release your quarry and be prepared to do it again!
We cover the basic cast and how to shoot line, the roll cast, knots (the Perfection Loop, Double Surgeon's Knot, and Improved Clinch Knot). We'll teach you how to read water and understand trout behavior and characteristics. We'll review basic entomology and fly selection, fly-fishing equipment, fish fighting, and catch and release techniques. Cost: $195

Our schools are held at Yellow Breeches Outfitters. The classroom portion is held in the meeting room at the shop. Casting and presentation is held by Children’s Lake behind the shop. The hands-on fly fishing experience takes place on the nationally acclaimed Yellow Breeches Creek and Boiling Springs Run. Intermediate Schools begin at the store and continue on local waters.
Schools begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude around 5:00 p.m. Your fly-fishing adventure includes lunch, professional instruction, a fly fishing instruction book, use of equipment and a box of flies.

What to bring...
We provide equipment, BUT you will need to bring a few necessary items. casual seasonal outdoor clothing, waterproof shoes or boots, a brimmed hat, POLARIZED sunglasses, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
Waders are preferred but not mandatory. In the cold weather of the spring you will want them. We have a great hip boot available at the shop which retails for under seventy-five dollars. It's made by Hodgman, is very durable and comes in men's and women's sizes.
Fishing licenses are necessary. The simplest way to take care of this is to purchase them on-line before the day of your school. The PA Fish and Boat Commission website is www.fish.state.pa.us. This link will take you to the on-line license page, If you'd rather purchase a license at the store, we can do that quickly the morning of your school.
Private Schools Available...
Get completely individualized attention for the day. The curriculum and requirements are the same as described above. The cost is $295 for one person, $100 for each additional student up to a maximum of three (3). Private schools can be scheduled for any day of the week.
